A woman has died after the truck she was driving fell into a quarry at Nyora, in South Gippsland on last Tuesday (1 Mar 2016). It is understood the woman, 30, was operating a dump truck at the top of the quarry near the edge when the incident occurred. The woman died at the scene.
WorkSafe is investigating.

A South Canterbury company NZ) who owned a lime quarry where a worker died has been convicted on a workplace safety charge after changing its plea from not guilty to guilty. They entered a guilty plea on a charge of failing to take all practicable steps to ensure the safety of its employees. The company had previously entered a not guilty plea. The company will be sentenced on 24 May. (Source Timaru Herald Website)
